  Miss Avis Ashbrooke FRCS (Ed)
 

Avis Ashbrooke was born and educated in Newcastle, Staffordshire. She trained at King´s College London and then King´s College Hospital Medical School, qualifying in 1980. Her orthopaedic training was on the St George´s Orthopaedic rotation as a registrar and the Charing Cross rotation as a senior registrar. She also spent eight months at the Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead (plastic surgery unit) and three months on a trauma fellowship in Germany.

She was appointed as the first female orthopaedic consultant at Frimley Park Hospital in 1993. Her special interest is hand and upper limb surgery.  She is a member of the British Society of Surgery of the Hand and a fellow of the British Orthopaedic Association.

  Miss Valerie Nuñez FRCS (Tr & Orth)
 

Valerie Nuñez was born in Barcelona, Spain. In 1987 she came to England to study at Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School in London and qualified in 1992.

Her specialist registrar Orthopaedic training was on the South West Thames Orthopaedic rotation and she also completed three and a half years training in Plastic Surgery. She has undergone three Subspecialist Hand and Wrist Fellowships at St George´s Hospital (London), The Hand Clinic (Windsor), and The Queen Victoria Hospital (East Grinstead). She became a locum Consultant Plastic Hand Surgeon at The Queen Victoria Hospital in September 2005 before coming to Frimley Park Hospital in December 2005 as a Consultant Orthopaedic Hand Surgeon.

She is a fellow of the British Society of Surgery of the Hand and the British Orthopaedic Association.
